Where applicable all products are manufactured to required British Standards or using material to British Standard specifications. These are listed below:


Material Specifications

Stainless steel wire products are manufactured from austenitic wire to BS EN 10099-1:1995 (type 304 18/8 quality to the requirements of BS1554).

Stainless steel strip products are manufactured from austenitic strip to BS EN 1008-2:1995 (type 304 18/8 quality to the requirements of BS970 part 4).

 

Galvanised strip products are manufactured from various materials:

Straps and Frame Cramps from pre-galvanised edge coated mild steel type Fe Po 2 G300 to BS EN 10142:1991.
Brick to timber hangers from pre-galvanised mild steel type Fe Po 2 G600 to BS EN 10142:1991.
Other products from G275 material or in the case of Hip Irons, Brackets and Step Irons etc. galvanised to BS729.


Standards

Wall ties are manufactured to either BS1243 or DD140: Part 2: 1987 (Recommendations for the design of wall ties).

BS1243 refers purely to the shape and wire/strip sizes required for the manufacture of these ties.
DD140 requires the wall ties to have certain design characteristics to enable the designer to specify the correct type of wall tie for each situation.
Wall ties should be installed to the requirements of BS5628: The use of masonry: Part 1: 1992 which allows either BS1243 or DD140 wall ties to be used. This gives recommendations for embedment length of tie, density and positioning.
